정현이와 공부하면 나도 헷갈리는 것들은 정리해 놓아야 겠다고 생각.

1) 품사와 성분 - 사실 이 부분의 소제목을 붙이기 힘들다. 내가 헷갈리는 것을 정리한 거니까;;

Be as specific/specifically as possible.

The air feels fresher, the flowers smell sweeter, food tastes more delicous, and the stars shine more brilliantly in the night sky.

문장의 구성중 제 2형식은 주어+동사+보어 (S+V+C) 형태이다.

그냥 느낌으로 첫번째 문장은 be specific이긴한데.. 정현이에게 이야기하다보니 "왜"인지 알려줘야 할 것 같아 be는 주어가 이렇다는 거기 때문에 주어(명사)를 설명하는 형태로 형용사라고 말해 놓고 좀 더 공부해 보니

불완전자동사 부분에 나온다. 불완전 자동사는 incomplete intransitive verb,

(AEGU unit21에 상태동사를 linking verb라고 하는 것 같다.)

불완전자동사는 S=C (C가 S의 성질/상태/신분을 설명) 한다는 이야기.

1. <상태>

be :: be, lie, stand

keep :: keep, hold, remain, stay

2. <상태의 변화>

become, come, get, grow, make, turn, fail, go, run

3. <외견>

seem, look, appear

4. <감각>

see, smell, taste, feel

그러므로 shine 은 여기서 아무것도 해당 없으므로 (완전 자동사란다; 이 용어가 뭔지는 모르겠다...) the stars shine brilliantly는 맞는 문장.

그러나 머리에는 the stars shine bright. 라는 문장이 떡 하고 버티고 있다.

the stars shine bright / the stars shine brightly 뭐가 맞는걸까? 싶었는데

옥스포드 영영사전님께서 알려주신다.

brightly (adv)

bright (adv) (literary) (usually with the verbs burn and shine) 이라고.

결국 문어체로써 굳어진 bright의 부사적 쓰임 때문에 둘 다 맞는 문장이라는 것 :)

2) 수의 일치

each 는 항상 단수 : each of them has his own faults.

every도 단수

: of 뒤의 명사의 수에 일치

either A or B + V : 동사에 더 가까운 B에 일치
